Regional Networks
The Mountain Forum network is comprised of a global secretariat located in Kathmandu, Nepal and the following five regional networks, or nodes: African Mountain Forum (AMF), Asia-Pacific Mountain Network (APMN), European Mountain Forum (EMF), InfoAndina (Latin American Mountain Forum), and North American Mountain Forum (NAMF).
These regional networks provide services for creating regional linkages between individuals and organisations concerned with mountain people, their cultures and environment. Anyone may join a regional network by becoming a member of Mountain Forum, which is free for both organisations and individuals. Membership includes interaction through the discussion lists managed by the respective regional nodes.
These regional networks are autonomous and function independently to serve the interests of their membership.
Each regional network is hosted by an eminent international organisation working in sustainable mountain development.
These are:
World Agroforestry Centre (ICRAF) in Uganda - host institution for African Mountain Forum (AMF)
International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) in Nepal - host institution for Asia-Pacific Mountain Network (APMN), and the Mountain Forum Secretariat
Maison des Parcs et de la Montagne (?House of Parks and Mountains?) in the city of Chambery, France - host institution for the European Mountain Forum (EMF)
International Potato Center (CIP) in Peru - host institution for InfoAndina (Latin American Mountain Forum)
Mountain Culture at the Banff Centre in Canada - host institution for North American Mountain Forum (NAMF)
Currently, a new host organisation is being selected for EMF. Meanwhile, its operations are maintained with the support of the Mountain Forum Secretariat.
